LCGC October meeting

Our next monthly meeting is Wednesday, October 13, at 10:00 a.m. in the League City Recreation Center, located behind the Johnny Arolfo Civic Center at 400 W. Walker St.

The presentation this month is Bromeliads in the Garden, with guest speaker Joanne Woolsey of Jimbo's Nursery.

Let's "go green" at this meeting, and at our future meetings, by bringing our own reusable beverage bottles. (Of course we'll have a few cups on hand if you don't bring your own.)

First meeting of the 2021-2022 year

Our first meeting of the 2021-2022 year is Wednesday, September 8, from 10:00 a.m. to noon. We're meeting at 450 W. Walker St. in the recreation room, which is the free standing building between the Arolfo Civic Center ballroom (where we used to meet) and the League City swimming pool. We will have light refreshments, not the usual lunch spread, until we have a sense of what works well with our new setup and the type of turnout to expect.

The doors won’t open until 10:00 a.m.; please pardon the inconvenience of not having everything set up in advance. We are working on fixing that scheduling problem.

A few reminders to members:

1. Please return all unused Garden Walk tickets or money collected for those not returned at this meeting

2. Bring a plant for the plant table/plant swap. This is a fun addition to our meetings that we would like to continue.

3. If you are a Committee Chair who has been actively working on a project or needs to launch a project, be prepared to stand up and give a brief update during the business meeting. This is a good time to discuss your needs and ask for volunteers to assist you.

4. If you have any garden-related announcements you would like to share with everyone, let us know in advance of the meeting. Please contact club president, Lisa Lofaro, at lisa.lofaro@yahoo.com, or 832-561-7933 with your announcement information. If time permits, we will share the announcement, if not, it will be sent out in an email afterwards.

The League City Garden Club will be promoting the Garden Walk at the League City Community Health Fair this Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Hometown Heroes Park from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Please let us know if you would like to volunteer at the booth.

See you Wednesday!
